Hello, I am looking into a high end monitor for my lap top to use when I am sitting at my desk as opposed to being on the move and am thinking of purchasing a 4K display. Assuming I connect the MacBook Pro with a 4k compatible mini display port to HDMI adapter and a HDMI cable that is also 4K compatible, will my computer actually be able to use the display at its full resolution?

Nearly changed everything, this is the ultimate Macbook Pro upgrade! Check out my in-depth motherboard upgrade tutorial Changes: 1. I replaced my MacBook Pro 17' late 2011 with a Mac Pro late 2013, and guess what, the same graphic thing is happening to the Mac Pro. However, much more seldom.

The primary specs of the lap top are: 2.2Ghz quad-core i7, 16GB RAM, Intel HD Graphics 3000 512 MB, and AMD Radeon HD 6750M with 1GB VRAM. Hopefully this would be enough to power the display at its full 3840 pixels × 2160 lines. Any response is much appreciated! [: Thank you for your time! Best Answer: talks about how to support the large resolution (3840 x 2160) on a MacBook Pro. Keep in mind that running a monitor that large with video support so minimal as supplied by a laptop is pushing the video capabilities to their limits.

I'd actually recommend a smaller external monitor (no more than about 27') and use the laptop's screen as under the monitor extension rather than mirroring mode. This would give a desktop area of the laptop and use the monitor as an extension.

I do the same with a 19' monitor and my 15' MacBook Pro. Works great without straining my video limits. Remember that you may be able to handle a huge resolution, but may not be able to display in millions of colors with a fast screen refresh rate.

In thousands of colors the picture is noticeably grainy and horrible to use. Which display?

EDIT: The 13-inch MBP Early 2011 is described here–> where it says 'Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display' The 15-inch is described here–> where it says 'Simultaneously supports full native resolution on the built-in display and up to 2560 by 1600 pixels on an external display' OTHER ANSWER: That article is for the 2012 / 2013 Retina. Where does onenote for mac save files. Your 2011 model can't do 3840 x 2160 no way, not with any colors. • Tell us some more • Upload in Progress • Upload failed.
