I have 2 macbooks and every know en then it asks for the password for my local items keychain. I have followed other solutions to fix this but the password prompts keep coming. Usually I have to fill in my password several times before the system leaves me alone. This behaviour is very annoying. Music production software. Other solutions keep telling me that I changed my login password but this is not my case. My password has been the same since the beginning. Could this be an issue with icloud keychain sync?

Keychain Access is a feature built into Mac's that stores and saves all the passwords. It is a system password manager, and contains the passwords for almost all of your Mac based applications such as auto-fill passwords from Safari, SMTP, IMAP, POP passwords from Mac Mail etc. Keychain Access is.

You have most likely seen this as well but you might have missed the comment towards the end: Failing that the only other thought is you try deleting the 'Local Keychain' (the folder that's named with numbers) again - but this time do it on both machines at the same time, make sure Keychain Access is closed and just delete that folder from within the Keychain folder of Finder (i.e. Not the complete Keychain folder so leaving the Login Keychain untouched) - then restart both machines. I don't use iCloud Keychain (never liked the idea of my passwords flying round the net!) but you mentioned your suspicions that iCloud could be behind the problem, and because iCloud links things together maybe you should attempt the fix on both machines together - just a wild guess though. Noted that you have already attempted deletion of Local Keychain (the numbered folder) so you realise that in doing so you will lose web form passwords, mail passwords and credit card info (if stored), just thought I should mention it - but not knowing about iCloud Keychain that data might be brought back over from the cloud or from other devices (if you have any).
